Terms of service
Last updated: October 5, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and MeetSitters ("we," "us"). They cover your use of meetsitters.com and the MeetSitters web app.
Agreement
By creating an account or using MeetSitters, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use MeetSitters. If you opt in to text messages, our SMS terms also apply. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
In these terms, "families" or "parents" means the adults who manage a household on MeetSitters. "Sitters" means the people who use MeetSitters to sit for families.
Who can use MeetSitters
To use MeetSitters, you must:
- be at least 18 years old
- live in the United States
- give accurate information and keep it up to date
- not be required to register as a sex offender, and never have been convicted of a crime involving the abuse or endangerment of a child
- not have been banned from MeetSitters
Each account is for one person. Don't share your account or create one for someone else. You're responsible for what happens in your account. Sign-in codes go to your email, so keep your email account and devices secure. If you think someone else has used your account, tell us right away at support@meetsitters.com.
What MeetSitters is, and what it isn't
MeetSitters is a scheduling and communication tool. It helps families post babysitting shifts and share them, helps sitters offer to take them, and helps everyone keep track of who's covering what.
MeetSitters is not an employer, staffing agency, or referral agency. We don't employ sitters, and sitters don't work for us. Unless a feature clearly says otherwise, we don't screen, background-check, train, or supervise sitters, and we don't verify what users tell us, like their identity, age, or school. A profile on MeetSitters is not an endorsement.
Families decide who to invite and who to book. Families are responsible for:
- vetting sitters, such as checking references and running any background checks they want
- supervising the care of their children
- paying sitters as agreed
- meeting any legal obligations they have as a household employer, such as taxes
Sitters are responsible for their own conduct, their availability, and their own taxes. Any working arrangement is between the family and the sitter. MeetSitters isn't a party to it.
Safety
- In an emergency, call 911. MeetSitters is not an emergency service.
- We don't monitor shifts in real time.
- We don't guarantee that any shift will be filled, that any sitter will show up, or that any notification will be delivered on time, or at all. Have a backup plan for care you depend on.
- Use your own judgment, especially with someone new.
- If you have a safety concern about another user, tell us at support@meetsitters.com.
Your responsibilities
Families
- Give sitters the accurate, current information they need, like allergies, medications, house rules, and how to reach you.
- Share only household information you have the right to share.
- You decide who joins your household, like co-parents, family viewers, and sitters, so invite only people you trust with your household information.
- Change your door or alarm codes if you think they've been shared too widely, or when a sitter no longer needs them.
Sitters
- Keep your profile honest and up to date.
- Show up for shifts you're booked on. If you can't make it, release, swap, or find cover as early as you can.
- Follow the family's instructions and house rules.
- Keep household information private. Use the address, door codes, and other details only for shifts you're booked on.
- Take and share photos of children only as the family allows.
- Send a cover link only to someone you trust. The family decides whether to approve them.
Links you share
MeetSitters works by sharing links to shifts, schedules, and invitations. Treat these links with care:
- Anyone who has a link may see its preview details: the date, time, kids' ages, pay, family display name, and neighborhood. Previews never show the home address or the kids' names or photos.
- Invite links can let someone join your household, so send each one only to the person it's meant for.
- If a link is shared more widely than you meant, reset it.
- When you send a link from your own phone or accounts, you're the sender. Only message people who want to hear from you.
Messages and notifications
We send emails you need to use MeetSitters, like sign-in codes, shift alerts, booking confirmations, reminders, and account notices. If you install the MeetSitters web app and allow notifications, we also send push notifications. We send text messages only if you opt in, as described in our SMS terms.
You can change most notification settings, but we'll still send messages you need, like sign-in codes and important account notices. Notifications can be delayed or fail, so don't rely on them alone for anything urgent.
You're responsible for the messages and notes you write.
Payments between families and sitters
Families pay sitters directly, outside MeetSitters, for example with Venmo or cash. We don't process, hold, or guarantee these payments. Rates, totals, and pay records in MeetSitters are based on what users enter and are there for convenience. Families and sitters are responsible for agreeing on pay.
Subscriptions
We may offer paid plans for families. If you subscribe to one:
- We'll show you the price, billing period, and renewal terms before you buy.
- Stripe processes payments. You authorize us to charge your payment method for each billing period.
- Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime from your account or by emailing support@meetsitters.com. You'll keep paid features through the end of the period you've paid for. Except where the law requires, we don't refund partial periods.
- If a plan includes a free trial, we'll tell you when it ends. You'll be charged when it ends unless you cancel first.
- If we change prices, we'll tell you in advance. The new price starts with your next billing period, and you can cancel before then.
Acceptable use
When using MeetSitters, don't:
- harass, threaten, bully, or discriminate against anyone
- do anything illegal, or anything that puts a child at risk
- post or send sexual, violent, or hateful content
- impersonate anyone or misrepresent your identity, age, or experience
- send spam, or use MeetSitters to advertise other products or services
- scrape or collect data from MeetSitters with bots or other automated tools
- share other people's private information, like a family's address, kids' details, or photos, without permission
- use door codes or household information for anything other than a shift you're booked on
- access accounts or households that aren't yours, or try to get around our security or limits
- interfere with MeetSitters, for example by overloading it or uploading malware
- create a new account after we've suspended or removed you
Your content
Your content is the information, photos, messages, notes, and shift reports you add to MeetSitters. You own it. You're responsible for it, and you must have the right to share it, including information and photos of other people.
You give us permission to host, store, copy, display, and share your content only as needed to operate, provide, and protect MeetSitters. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we keep as our privacy policy describes and content that's part of other users' records, like a family's past schedule.
We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law, but we don't have to monitor content.
MeetSitters itself, including our software, design, name, and logo, belongs to us. We give you a personal, limited right to use MeetSitters under these terms. You can't transfer that right.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using MeetSitters at any time. To delete your account, email support@meetsitters.com.
We may suspend or end your access, or remove your content, if you break these terms, if we need to protect children, users, or MeetSitters, or if the law requires it. We'll usually tell you why, unless that would create a safety risk or the law doesn't allow it.
We may change or stop offering features, or MeetSitters itself. If we shut MeetSitters down, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can export your information.
Parts of these terms that by their nature should last after your account ends will keep applying, including the disclaimers, limits on liability, indemnity, and dispute terms.
Disclaimers
We work hard to make MeetSitters useful and reliable, but we provide MeetSitters "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We don't promise that MeetSitters will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that shifts will be filled, or that notifications will arrive on time. We aren't responsible for the conduct of any user, on or off MeetSitters, or for the quality, safety, or legality of any care that families and sitters arrange using MeetSitters.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data.
- We won't be liable for any injury, loss, or damage that comes from interactions between users, including anything that happens during a shift or in someone's home.
- Our total liability for all claims about MeetSitters is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
These limits apply to every kind of claim, including contract, negligence, or any other legal theory, even if we were told the damage was possible. Some states don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against MeetSitters, or our owners, employees, or agents, that comes from any of the following, you'll defend us and pay the resulting losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent the law allows:
- your use of MeetSitters
- your content
- your breaking these terms or the law
- your dealings with other users, including any care arrangement, payment, or household-employer obligation
Disputes
If you have a problem with MeetSitters, please contact us first at support@meetsitters.com and describe it. We'll do the same if we have a problem with you. We'll both try to resolve it informally for at least 30 days before either of us goes to court.
Disputes between users, like a disagreement over pay or a canceled shift, are between those users. We may try to help, but we don't have to.
These terms, and any dispute between you and us, are governed by the laws of the US state where MeetSitters' operator is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and by applicable US federal law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by email or in MeetSitters before it takes effect. If you keep using MeetSitters after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, stop using MeetSitters and delete your account.
Other important terms
- These terms, along with our SMS terms if you opt in to texts, are the whole agreement between you and us about MeetSitters.
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours, for example in a merger or sale of the business.
- These terms don't create a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and us.
